WEENIES ON PARADE!!!

2010 4th Annual parade: Saturday September 11th
We start at NOON sharp!!
Wow- I finally got the software working! Sorry about the delay in getting fresh information here about the 2010 event.
This is the 4th year for our parade event.
We are part of the City of Waterloo's 51st annual WIENER & KRAUT DAY. Waterloo,
Wisconsin is about 25 miles east of Madison and 9 miles north of I-94 from the
Lake Mills / Waterloo exit. Check us out on any map web site- we are at the
intersection of 19 & 89-
it is so easy to get here from
anywhere! Lots of food, ice cream, snacks, drinks, a beer tent, a music stage
with DJ and live bands, all day city-wide events including a run/walk, car and
motorcycle shows and a lot more. Have a great day and yummy food and snacks as
you enjoy your visit to Waterloo!

web site:

THEME: we will celebrate America with red-white-blue, our USA heritage, Honor and Support Our Troops, and especially to salute all our Veterans who have given so much to provide us the freedom we enjoy today. Be as creative as you can- will you be ready? We may be on national TV! We're pushing for CNN and all the major networks...
ROUTE:
the route will be the same as last year's but about 1 block longer. We start at
St John's school on the main east-west street. We will go west - through the
4-way stop sign, over the bridge and then into the F&M State Bank parking lot.
Total distance is about 5 short blocks.
JUDGING:
after the parade ends, we will be awarding prizes for 11 dachshund categories:
1) most patriotic 2) oldest doxie 3) youngest doxie 4) best person costume 5)
best doxie costume 6) best person & doxie costume ensemble 7) farthest travelled
8) person bringing the most doxies 9) smallest dachshund 10) largest dachshund
11) best float or unit. We welcome visitors to help judge by your applause and
noise. Please stay around to participate! You must be present to win a catagory
prize.
PARTICIPANTS: Please
come to the St. John's school parking lot no later than 11:40am to get lined up
and make any last minute preparations of your critters, costumes, and "floats".
Remember- we start right at NOON, as soon as the PD has closed the route and
gives the thumbs up! Be considerate of the school property and be sure to visit
their ice cream social when you can.
Remember
to bring those items you will need to care for your weenies: water, clean-up bag
& paper towels, leash & harness, etc. Be considerate of our many hosts and clean
up "any little accidents" that happen right away. We will have a collection
point available at the end of the parade route- just drop it in.
At the finish point, every participant will
be given a free goodie bag with
water, snacks, doggie treats, some fun surprises, and a
door-prize ticket. Plan on staying in a
group for a few minutes after we finish so we can award our door prizes, and let
everyone get photos & video, and have fun visiting. Don't forget your cameras!
We should be done with the fun stuff by about 12:45 or so. Please stay and enjoy
the group!
DONATIONS:
We have no funding or budget provided. The parade is free- no fees or costs are
charged to participants. We will gladly accept any amount you may wish to give.
A collection container will be located at the parade end- we’re suggesting $2
per dog minimum. The funds will be used to offset the cost for the gifts & door
prizes, goodies, snacks, water bottles given to all participants, and other
expenses like advertising.
SPONSORS: if you or your group would like to become a parade sponsor, please contact CHRIS at 608-698-7700.
Note: this year we will not have the big circus tent and pre-parade meet-up at our "weenie ranch" due to the very high cost of the rentals. All our activities will be held in Waterloo. Please call Chris Daly for any questions or info: 608-698-7700 or email us at: waterlooweenies@yahoo.com. Donations will be gladly accepted at the parade or by following the "PayPal" secure web site button shown below. Thanks to everyone for your participation.
REPORT- 3RD Annual "WEENIES-ON-PARADE" in conjunction with the 50TH anniversary of WIENER AND KRAUT DAY and SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION (150 years!) for WATERLOO, WISCONSIN. This year's event was on September 12th, 2009.
Deb and I want to thank everyone for their participation and help. Without all of you being there, we would not have a weenie parade. The turn-out was incredible. We had about 32 dogs at our "ranch" as we convoyed over to the parade start point. I estimate that we had somewhere between 100 and 105 dachshunds total, with quite a few rider vehicles, wagons, and strollers. The weather was absolutely perfect!
Special thanks to Deb and Dave Lapotka for their gracious donation of a number of the door prize gifts.
We were not able to put up an honor guard to lead things off, as every veteran group member except one was already working for various events.
The Waterloo High School Band was awesome. I am so glad they participated- they made the day! Thank you so much to every member for being there. The director told me that this year the school has 72 band members, more than ever in Waterloo's history!
All 5 of the Klement's Sausages marched with pride and dancing joy. Thanks to all the character people! Everyone loved you guys and gals!!!
Special thanks to the Waterloo Police officers for their help in providing a safe parade route, and to the Waterloo Fire Department in one of their big pumper units with lights blazing.
Thanks to St. John's school in Waterloo for allowing us to use their parking lot for our start point. We appreciate it!
This year we sponsored the event through our company, CJ Daly Diecast. We had tremendous expenses this year due to rentals, advertising and all the goodie bags and refreshments. If you would like to donate to the cost of the 2009 event, we'll gladly accept any amount you wish to give, no matter how small or large. Our expenses this year were near $2000. We are working on creating sponsorship levels for next year, so if you have a business or need some advertising value, please consider that for next year's event. Keep checking here for new info and updates. Donations may be mailed to CJ Daly Diecast PO Box 155, Waterloo, WI 53594, marked for "Parade 2009". You may also use the secure PayPal button below if you wish. Thank You!
PHOTOS Video tape
recordings: I will make every effort to post all the photos, video, and news
footage from channel 15 that I can get. If you have any of these, please call me
so we can make arrangements to obtain copies. Please copy anything you have in
it's original raw un-altered format on to a CD or DVD, or VCR tape and mail them
to me. I will then process it to fit the best for this web application. I will
gladly pay for the postage.
Thanks to all the marchers and
their 'lil doggies. Please come back next year with more of your buddies. We made it! Thanks so much to all who braved the weather. It wasn't
really too bad at all, just overcast with very light sprinkles. The road was not covered with big
puddles. We anticipated over 100 doggies, but due to the weather, turn out was
down. We had about 25 dogs make it. We had the new
Weenie
Wagon
pulled by 4 minis - a real big hit with the crowd. Another crowd favorite was
the tiny little 10 month old puppy with the hotdog bun costume. The police
officers blocking traffic had a very hard time not laughing out loud while
trying to be serious and control traffic. Unfortunately, because of the rain,
the 8' tall KLEMENT'S RACING SAUSAGES did not participate (they can't get wet,
unlike our little weenies). I was the big weenie in the hotdog costume, and Deb
was the clown at the back of the parade. Fun had by all, even with the
dampness.
